This means that at night you will be able to see the stars like you’ve never seen them before. Now this is truly something that you have to experience at least once in your life!
Going on a road trip through Friesland means getting the chance to explore the ‘Elfstedentocht’, the most legendary ice skating tour of the Netherlands. The ‘Elfstedentocht’ is among the most famous sporting events of the Netherlands since it is only organized when the ice is thick enough to skate on the magnificent lakes, rivers and canals that connect eleven historic Frisian cities. This road trip allows you to experience the scenic route of the world’s largest and longest speed skating competition without having to wait for the irregular event of thick ice.
While going on a road trip through the Salland area in Overijssel you will become acquainted with the beautiful nature of Salland. This region is located in the western part of the province and has got numerous beautiful churches, castles, farms and mills. Start the 116-kilometer drive and ramble through all the picturesque villages the Salland region has to offer. Enjoy a breathtaking view over the IJssel or stop for a moment on the Holterberg.
