5 days biketour through Twente

Your cycling trip begins in Nijverdal, then cycle to the city Ootmarsum along beautiful farms, streams, through nice places like Vasse and Tubbergen. On the way you can enjoy the special Twentse landscape and you have the opportunity to taste the most delicious local produce on these routes! In Ootmarsum you will be given the opportunity to stay in one of the many bed and breakfasts.
Ootmarsum is truly a tourist attraction of north-eastern Twente. The old nostalgic city centre revives ancient times. Ootmarsum is famous for her love for art. Ootmarsum has not been proclaimed for nothing as an art city of the East. Here you can admire paintings, ceramics, sculptures and glass art. In Ootmarsum you enjoy not only art but also the special culture atmosphere.

In Ootmarsum there is a lot to see, including the open air museum, estates, museums, galleries, artists and even a star guard with one of the largest telescopes in the Netherlands. You can also find cozy terraces, restaurants.

The next day we cycle along the Dinkel to Denekamp. You cycle through the green surroundings of Denekamp, an area that forms part of National Landscape Northeast Twente. You will still find the small-scale essen landscape here. Along the Dinkel lies the beautifully situated Singraven Estate. On the estate are many special monumental buildings, including the stately Singraven House, and the Dinkel is still the ancient mill of 1448 with three races. Today there is a restaurant.

You can go for a walk on the Singraven Estate, after this walk you can drink something in the restaurant or have a snack before continuing your cycling trip.

From Singraven you can continue your cycling trip to the Twente town of Delden.

There is an option to cycle through Bad Bentheim a place in  Germany. From Bad Bentheim you ride back to the starting point of the route near the German border.

Just after crossing the German border, you reach Lutterland along the nature reserve. This area is 750 hectares and it is crossed by the meandering river de Dinkel. You will find special sand sprays, heaths and rolling forests that form the habitat of all kinds of birds such as the buzzard, the black and spotted woodpecker, the tailmight and the night swallow.

In this option you are given in Oldenzaal the opportunity to stay overnight.

If you choose the option to cycle to Delden then you will be given the opportunity to stay in Delden

These options are possible depending on how many miles you want and can take.

Close to the Twente town of Delden you will find Twickel Castle. A beautiful estate of about 4000 hectares.

On the estate there are about one hundred and fifty farms, recognizable by black and white shutters, and other buildings such as two water mills, the water tower and the wood sawmill.

After a wonderful night in a good hotel and after enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will continue the cycling route to the Borkeld.

Via Twickel we cycle along Hengevelde, Goor Markelo over the “Borkeld” to the National Park de Sallandse Heuvelrug.

In the beautiful nature area De Borkeld at Markelo, a beautiful herd of Drentse Heideschapen grazes. These sheep are used to maintain the nature reserve through burial.

In Holten you may have an overnight stay in a good hotel or in a bed and breakfast.

From Holten our route is continued to the Sallandse Heuvelrug.

Sallandse Heuvelrug

National Park The Sallandse Heuvelrug is an extensive nature reserve consisting of forests and heathlands. The heath is even one of the longest connected herds of Europe. The tie, fox, ree, bunzing, stone marshland and some 75 species of birds form the permanent residents of the area. There are various viewpoints on the Sallandse Heuvelrug, from where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and flora and fauna.

We cycle back to Nijverdal via Zuna and along the Regge.

The start and end of this route can be adjusted.

Of course, you can make your trip as long as possible, taking into account your wishes and the number of kilometers you want and to cycle.
